The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine continues to actively develop international cooperation, in particular attracting international technical assistance.

The Sumy Border Guard Detachment received international technical assistance under the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS) of the U.S. Department of State.

The EXBS program continues implementation of the pilot project on risk reduction on the Ukrainian-Russian border, which was launched at the Slavhorod border guard service inspectors’ unit in 2018 and later expanded to the entire Krasnopillia Border Guard Division of Sumy Border Guard Detachment.

Representatives of the EXBS Program donated computer and multimedia equipment to continue these initiatives.

According to Aliona Kutsar, EXBS Program Coordinator, international cooperation is very important, as only well-coordinated cooperation can effectively meet the challenges and threats at the state border.

Colonel Mykola Romanchuk, Chief of the Sumy Border Guard Detachment, thanked the international partners for their cooperation and noted that the State Border Guard Service, as a component of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, continues to develop and adequately respond to existing challenges and threats.

“Protection of the state border, organization of movement across the state border of persons, vehicles and goods, combating cross-border crime - are one of the most important areas of development of the Border Guard Agency. And cooperation in this direction will only contribute to further improving the level of border security,” Mykola Romanchuk said.
