Threats of physical violence, verbal abuse, throwing stones and dangerous automobile maneuvers, which often threaten the lives and health of border guards - this is the reaction of illegal elements to the systemic fight of the State Border Guard Service against smuggling. In Transcarpathia border guards had to shoot to stop offenders who tried to run over border guards by car.

Thus, recently, thanks to the joint actions of border guards of Mukachevo detachment and Romanian colleagues, they managed to find six packages of cigarettes and detain a man in a wetsuit near the Tysa River, which runs through the Ukrainian-Romanian border. A 23-year-old resident of Rakhiv was detained in the area of ​​responsibility of the border guard division.

During further search operations, the rapid reaction team stopped a Volkswagen Golf with foreign license plates. According to the detained 23-year-old Ukrainian in a wetsuit, the driver of the car had to pick him up after illegally transporting cigarettes to Romania.

At the request of law enforcement officers, the driver of the car refused to show documents for inspection. At that moment, another man drove up to the scene at high speed in a foreign-registered Volkswagen Passat. The driver of the "Golf" abruptly jumped into the approaching "Passat". After attempting to hit the border guard detail, the men left the Volkswagen Golf on the road and drove towards the village of Velykyi Bychkiv on the Volkswagen Passat.

In order to save lives and health, border guards fired several warning shots up and at the wheels of the fugitive cars.

After that, the servicemen continued to chase the offenders by the official car, but the way was blocked by a Toyota Land Cruiser. The border guard detail had to stop. In turn, the driver of the SUV ran out and started hitting the official car of the border guards, breaking the windshield and damaging the hood, the angry driver of the "Toyota" began to threaten servicemen with physical violence. It turned out that the man was the father of a young man involved in tobacco smuggling. In this way, he decided to stop the border guards and so allow his son to avoid responsibility. Border guards called National Police officers to the scene and detained the man. Subsequently, police detained his son.

Regarding the detection of signs of crimes under Article 194 "Intentional destruction or damage of property", Art. 343 "Interference in the activities of a law enforcement officer" and Art. 345 "Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine a report was sent to the National Police Directorate.
