Several days ago, border guard patrol of “Sopych” border guard division, Sumy oblast, detained “Gazel” vehicle loaded with church equipment. The vehicle was stopped near the state border in the suburbs of Bachivsk settlement.

The driver, our compatriot, failed to transport a large consignment of goods due to the cooperation of officers of Sumy Border Guard Detachment and Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy oblast.

The law enforcement officers detected 97 boxes with large number of church equipment in the lorry. Among them, there were orthodox holy-piece icons of different seizes and decorations, amulets, talismans for vehicles, crosses and religious printing production.

Detained vehicle and cargo, preliminary cost of which is more than 1 million UAH, were transmitted to police. The relevant examination will determine if they are of historical and cultural value.

The driver of “Gazel”, local citizen, was brought to responsibility according to current legislation for violation the state border regime.
