Citizen of Russia carried “Dessert Eagle” and 1000 cartridges in fuel tank

“Dessert Eagle” gun and 1000 cartridges to it were detected at international border crossing point “Yahodyn”, Volyn oblast. Officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine have found the dangerous items during detailed inspection of vehicles.

A citizen of Russia attempted to enter Ukraine from Poland by “Volkswagen Golf” vehicle. He chose the “green lane” for border control procedures, but border guards initiated a detailed inspection of the vehicle, and involved a special detection dog for it. The dangerous weapon was hidden in the fuel tank and could be detected only with the help of endoscope. In the course of inspection, border guards took out of the tank 5 cans with 1000 cartridges (cal. 45) and a “Dessert Eagle” pistol, wrapped in polyethylene. Representatives of State Security Service of Ukraine were informed about the finding.

Currently, the weapon and ammunition are confiscated and all circumstances of the offence are being investigated.
