A 46-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Chernivtsi, tried to transport the gem stocks across the border secretly.

The 46-year-old from Bukovina was traveling to Romania through the Dyakove border crossing point in a Mercedes minibus.

During a thorough inspection of his vehicle, border guards together with customs officials detected some hiding places with amber.

The "deposits" of solar stones were hidden from the eyes of law enforcement officers in front of the outside-air intake and in the bottom under the driver's and passenger's seats.

In total, the man tried to export unprocessed colorful stones from Ukraine, as well as finished amber products weighing a total of 13.9 kg.

So far, precious stones and a vehicle have been confiscated from the Ukrainian.
