Recently, during the testing of measures to combat illegal activities, operatives of the Chop border guard detachment recorded the flight of the aircraft towards the Ukrainian-Slovak border due to engine noise.

During search operations on the outskirts of the village of Batfa, Uzhhorod district, almost two kilometers from the border, border guards found a homemade unmanned aerial vehicle.

National Police officers were called to the place of the incident and seized the drone for further investigation.

Based on the established circumstances of the offense, the unauthorized launch in a controlled border area, near settlements and Uzhhorod International Airport, a homemade unmanned aerial vehicle is qualified as a violation of the rules of airspace use. Such an offense contains signs of a crime under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Measures are being taken to identify the owners of the drone and those involved in its illegal use.

According to the experience of previous detentions, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) can be used to move smuggled tobacco products across the border.
