In Transcarpathia, Borderguards of the Chop Borderguard detachment prevented illegal actions of our compatriot, who tried to transport 50 kg of amber across the border.

“Solar” stones were found last night at the Chop (Druzhba) railway checkpoint during an inspection of the Kyiv-Vienna trailer as part of the Chop-Zakhon international train.

Based on the risk analysis, the border guards had suspicions about the possible transportation of goods hidden from the border control in the passenger train. Border guards began a thorough inspection of the car.

The borderguards found 88 packages under the washbasins, behind the decorative cladding during a search of two compartments. They contained yellow-brown stones. It has been previously established that these are untreated amber stones of different fractions and colors. The total weight of the contents of the packages was 50 kilograms. The owner of the stone was a 33-year-old citizen of Ukraine.

Border guards sent a report to the Uzhhorod branch of the National Police Main Directorate in Zakarpattia region on the grounds of a crime.

The found stones were seized by customs officers for expert assessment.
