Recently, illegal activity planned by the resident of Transcarpathia to smuggle in cigarettes across the border has been unsuccessfully completed.

The violator was detained in the Vynohradiv district by the officers of the Department of Internal Security "West" of the State Border Guard Service and investigators of the Main Office of the National Police of Ukraine in the Transcarpathian region, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Transcarpathian region, within the framework of criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense by the p. 3, art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which was registered by the materials of Internal Security.

The offender tried to bribe a border inspector of Diakovo Division of  Mukachevo Detachment by offering him a $700 bribe for arranging unimpeded movement of tobacco across the State Border to Romania.

The briber was detained in accordance with the Art. 208 CCU. Investigative actions are ongoing.

In the beginning of February border guards detained another local resident of the same area who also tried to establish illegal business on moving cigarettes across the border. The bribe taker, who was also caught while giving a $ 700 bribe, was handed over to police to conduct further legal actions.
