A smuggler who had tried to bribe a border guard was detained by police in Volyn region.

A citizen of Ukraine was caught red-handed while giving $ 600 to a serviceman of Lviv Detachment. The man planned to make a deal to transport smuggled tobacco products to Poland. However, his plan failed.

The measures were held in Volodymyr-Volynskyi by a joint interdepartmental group of internal and personal security representatives of Lviv Border Guard Detachment, the Investigative Department of Volyn Oblast General Directorate of the National Police, under the procedural guidance of Lutsk Garrison Military Prosecutor's Office and force support of servicemen of the operative response unit "DOZOR" of the State Border Guard Service, as a result of the implementation of materials of criminal proceedings on the grounds of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Offer, promise or giving an illegal benefit to an official".

The citizen was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigative actions are being carried out. Based on the results, the person will be informed about a chosen restrictive measure.
