Today, during his stay in Khmelnytskyi, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the National Academy of the State Border Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi.

The head of state got acquainted with the changes in the work of the institution after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. During the meeting, the rector of the university, Major General Oleksandr Lutsky, emphasized that the academy has strengthened military training.

In a conversation with lyceum students, cadets and teachers of the institution, Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted that the functions of the State Security Service of Ukraine had significantly expanded due to the war. Border guards not only protect Ukrainian borders, but also master various types of equipment and perform combat tasks on the front line. In particular, drone operators have shown an effective result at the front.

"The border guards showed themselves at the highest level. They performed all combat tasks absolutely bravely and professionally. The Border Patrol is expanding its skills through war. Of course, when the war is over, all these skills will not go anywhere. And such a number of EW and drone system operators, all these specialists should stay and deal with the modern border of Ukraine already in peacetime," said the President.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi also inspected the equipment currently used by Ukrainian border guards. These are armored vehicles, MLRS, artillery, drones, electronic warfare equipment.

Since the beginning of the war, 9 consolidated detachments were created on the basis of the academy, which performed combat tasks in the area of ​​Kyiv, Gostomel, Buch, Moschun, as well as on the eastern border of our country.

For their courage and heroism, 234 servicemen of the academy were awarded state awards, 10 graduates were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star, 7 of them posthumously.
