On August 27, a meeting of the Chief Border Guard Authorities of Ukraine and Hungary, Serhii Deineko and János Zoltán Kucsik, was held in Zakarpattia.

During the meeting, the Heads of Border Guard Agencies analyzed the situation on the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border, discussed steps for further cooperation and the state of implementation of previous agreements on the national and regional levels.

In particular, the Parties determined that smuggling of goods at border crossing points and the activities of criminal groups that specialize in the movement of people across the state border, especially Ukrainian citizens of conscript age, remain the main threats to the joint state border area.

They also emphasized on the need to enhance cooperation in sharing information to identify the organizers and detect channels of illegal trafficking of people across the border.

In his speech, the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko focused on the relevance of resuming joint patrolling on the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border, which will have a positive impact on the security situation.

Summarizing the results of the meeting, the Chief State Border Guard Authorities recognized that the main tasks facing the border guard agencies of Ukraine and Hungary remain joint counteraction to illegal activities at the border, including improving the cooperation of operational units to reveal channels and organized criminal groups.
