Pro-Russian mercenaries do not fulfill their obligations on rhythmic and safe passage of persons across the delineation line and purposefully create considerable accumulation of vehicles on the temporarily occupied territory. At the same time, after a certain period of work of the BCP, they let people in mass into the territory under the control of the Ukrainian government.

Such provocations are potentially life- and health-threatening as people have to cross the delineation line in the dark. There is a high risk of getting to the controlled area and staying overnight in the so-called “grey zone”. There were 5 such cases recorded during December of the previous year.

Since the beginning of this year, the occupants have already forced citizens to leave the so-called “grey zone” for three times after the closure of the BCP. By leaving people in potential danger, the militants have deliberately violated their basic rights.

In all cases, taking into account the potential danger during the stay of people in the grey zone at night, the Joint Forces Commander decided that the checkpoints would continue to operate. The Joint Forces border guards arranged the additional registration and passage of more than 500 citizens across the delineation line.

The Joint Forces Command asks citizens, when planning their travel, especially through the BCPs of “Maiorske” and “Novotroitske”, to take into account the time of the year and the time of day for the safe crossing of the delineation line, according to the BCP winter schedule from 08.00 to 17.00.
