In Jurmala Serhii Deineko met with the Head of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia Guntis Puyats.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed the situation on the borders of Ukraine and Latvia.

Besides, the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine said that the Ukrainian strategic course towards European integration remains unchanged.

With the support of the European Advisory Mission EUAM and European Border and Coast Guard Agency FRONTEX, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine continues to work on a new Strategy of Integrated Border Management.

Also Serhii Deineko got acquainted with the work of border guard aviation administration, one of the frontier posts and border checkpoints on the border with Russia.

Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine saw engineering protection of the border line, which includes fences, control strip and strip to patrol.

The Heads of border Agencies agreed the need for further cooperation to secure the state borders.

In particular, Guntis Puyats and Serhii Deineko agreed to develop a new Agreement on cooperation.

At the end of meeting the Heads of border Agencies signed a Protocol of the working meeting and the Cooperation Plan between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia on 2019-2020.

In conclusion, Serhii Deineko had official meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia Alexander Mishchenko. They discussed the issues of national security in the sphere of security of the state border.
