In the evening of March 20 the border guards of Chop Border Guard Detachment intercepted a light aircraft that was probably used for illegal purposes.

While performing service duties, a border guard detail of Uzhhorod Border Guard Division heard the engine noise in the sky. Rapid Response Group and the staff of the Operations and Investigation Unit immediately arrived to the indicated area. After one-hour search, the border guards have identified the flight location of the UAV. It was flying from Slovakia to Ukraine. To prevent the border regime violation, the servicemen fired several shots on the plane which led to its emergency landing.

The drone has now been handed over to the National Police Investigation Task Force. Measures to identify the persons involved in the violation are ongoing.
