The 29th leadership training course for women leaders has been completed at the OSCE Border College in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Given the pandemic, the course was conducted online.

The unique course was designed especially for women officers seeking career advancement.

The difficult epidemiological situation in the world has brought together 23 representatives of law enforcement agencies in the border and customs spheres in the online space.

For four weeks, women-representatives of middle and senior management from 13 countries (Belarus, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, Tajikistan and Ukraine) took an active part in the training.

The issues that were presented to them included illegal migration, human trafficking and protection of refugee rights, cybersecurity, risk management, gender equality, transnational threats and risks, economic and environmental factors in border security, anti-corruption, leadership and management, conflict resolution, and counter-terrorism.

This year, Ukraine was represented by two participants; both of them serve in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine: Lieutenant Colonel Natalia Vasylenko from the Donetsk detachment and Captain Yulia Shubina from the Chernivtsi detachment.

The women officers actively participated in group exercises, shared the experience of new directions of the Department in the fight against illegal migration, smuggling of tobacco and drugs.

Upon completion of the course, each participant received a certificate.

The training course not only brought together like-minded women from different countries, but also reaffirmed that women are capable of being leaders on an equal footing with men.
