The head of state visited Zmiinyi Island and checked the readiness of the military men to defend it.

During a working trip to Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited Zmiinyi Island in the Black Sea, where he observed the command and staff exercises with the participation of the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all types of troops (forces).

During the exercises, which were also attended by the naval staff of the State Border Guard Service and units of the Izmail Border Guard Detachment, including the outpost, which is constantly stationed on Zmiinyi, the security forces worked to strengthen the protection and defense of the island.

The Ukrainian military successfully resisted a conventional enemy of sea-launched assault, destroyed enemy ships, and repulsed potential attempts by the aggressor to seize the Ukrainian island.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted the importance of conducting such training, which take place at a very high level.

“It is gratifying that these military exercises are also taking place on our Ukrainian island of Zmiinyi. They have never been here at this level. This shows that we understand what time we live in, with whom we are struggling,” he said.
