“This is a really important area of ​​cooperation, taking into account, in particular, our desire to integrate into the common market with the European Union,” the President of Ukraine said in a statement following the meeting.

Also during the talks in Kyiv, the President of Ukraine stressed that the ambitious project of building a modern highway connecting Kyiv and Chisinau will reduce travel time between the capitals to five or six hours, which will intensify trade, simplify transit and improve people-to-people contacts.

For her part, the President of Moldova noted that during the meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyi it was agreed to intensify the dialogue between the relevant institutions of the two countries, including the continuation of working groups and bilateral sectoral commissions on current issues. In particular, the parties discussed the need to find solutions to ensure security at the common state border, environmental protection, cooperation in the energy sector, mutual recognition of property rights in accordance with international law and in the interests of both countries, development of bilateral trade, liberalization of international transport between Ukraine and Moldova, as well as in the operation of the Dnister HPP.

“We have agreed to speed up the search for a solution to ensure mutual travel on the basis of an identity card, which would benefit the citizens of both countries,” said Maiia Sandu.
