Two men were detained by the border guards of the Velykyi Bychkiv Border Guard Department when trying to flee from mobilization.

The operation was held in the framework of the operational and preventive measures “Rubizh – 2022”.

The border patrol spotted two men who got out of the car and rushed towards the Tysa River, which runs along the border with Romania. The men ignored the legal demands of the border guards and tried to run away to illegally cross the border. Military personnel began to pursue the offenders. One of them was detained immediately; the other one jumped off the concrete embankment, fell and injured his leg while trying to flee from the border guards. An ambulance took the man to the hospital where he was diagnosed with two fractures and got a cast on his leg.

Both detainees are residents of the city of Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The border guards drew up reports for committing the offense. According to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses such unlawful actions shall entail imposing a fine amounting from UAH 3,400 to UAH 8,500 or administrative arrest for up to fifteen days.

It is worth noticing that there have 15 lethal cases of illegal border crossing in the sector of responsibility of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of the territory of Ukraine. Ten of them drowned while crossing the Tysa River, another one died of hypothermia while crossing the snowy highlands. Two fugitives were taken to the hospital with limbs frostbite.
