Yesterday border guards of Mukachevo and Lviv border guard detachments prevented new attempts of smuggling tobacco goods across the border.

It was possible to detain the infringers and contraband goods due to cooperation and operational exchange of information between border guard detachments of Romania and Ukraine.

Preparation for illegal goods smuggling across the mountainous part of the border was disclosed by combined efforts of Ukrainian and Romanian border guards. They revealed 15 bundles with cigarettes on Romanian territory. 5 our compatriots were detained in the area controlled by the department “Dilove” of Mukachevo border guard detachment. They had no identifying documents and might be involved in illegal activity on the territory of Ukraine.

The procedure of identifying organizers of these activities and holding them responsible is carried out.

Yesterday border guards of Lviv detachment revealed tobacco goods hidden in construction parts of the car during its check-up in the checkpoint at the border with Poland.

The vehicle Volkswagen arrived at the checkpoint “Hrushiv”. The driver, our compatriot, intended to get to the countries of the European Union. During the check-up of the vehicle border guard inspectors and customs officers revealed 750 packs of cigarettes in the bumper and in the fuel tank. The total value of the goods is UAH 8000. The infringing merchandise and the vehicle were confiscated.

The facts of tobacco goods smuggling were disclosed in the checkpoints “Rava-Ruska” and “Ustylug” the day before. The total value of the contraband goods is over UAH 7000.
