Yesterday an attempt to carry illegally a great amount of money through the border was prevented as a result of joint operation of border guards of Kharkiv border detachment, officers of Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

The officers of SSU obtained the information that helped prevent money transporting. Yesterday night a citizen of Ukraine, driving his Opel car, arrived at “Chuhunivka” BCP to leave the country.

As law-enforcement agents had already been informed about possible money trafficking, the car was immediately taken for the second line check.

During the examination of the car and the passengers’ personal belongings, the joint inspection group found out that the flour bags and packets with other food had been opened. Having checked them law enforcement agents revealed nearly 740 000 UAH and 298 bank cards of different banks.

The residents of Luhansk region who were transporting the money and the cards explained that they had collected the bank cards from other residents, who lived on the militants-controlled territory and arrived in Kharkiv where they cashed the money and decided to return. It had also been found out that they did not do that free of charge. The money was passed to the State Fiscal Service authorities and the administrative record was drawn up.

It has not been the first case of money seizure at BCPs of Kharkiv border detachment so far.

As it is already known, last weekend the border guards of Kharkiv border detachment together with the officers of Security Service of Ukraine and the State Fiscal Service authorities seized approximately 850 000 UAH at “Chuhunivka” BCP.
