In Transcarpathia, the border guards detained a “diver”.

A 20-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained yesterday by border guards of the Mukacheve border guard detachment on the border with Romania.

The young man, moving towards the state border, was dressed in a wetsuit. He was seen by a border patrol of the Dilove border guard division, which was patrolling the bank of the Tysa River running along the Ukrainian-Romanian border. Upon noticing the border guards, the man abruptly changed direction and tried to escape. In order to stop the offense, the border guards fired warning shots, after which the offender was detained. The man did not have identity documents with him. He admitted to the border guards that he was a citizen of Ukraine and intended to enter Romania illegally.

The detainee was taken to the border guard unit to clear up all the circumstances of the offense and draw up administrative procedural documents.

The case was referred to the Rakhiv District Court. Today, the offender was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
