Representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine headed by Ambassador Martin Jaeger visited the area of responsibility of Zhytomyr Border Guard Detachment

Colonel Sven Hilgefort – Defense Attaché at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine also attended the activities.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service, Major General Serhii Deineko, noted that the cooperation between the State Border Guard Service and the German Embassy in Ukraine has a good long-term history. He emphasized that the assistance provided by the Federal Police and the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief preserves the life and health of border guards and ensures timely detection and response to security challenges.

During the visit, the representatives of the foreign delegation got acquainted with the work of border guards in the area of responsibility of one of the border guard commandant’s offices.

The leadership of Zhytomyr Border Guard Detachment informed the delegation about the actions of the border guards as part of the Defense Forces at the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the organization of the protection and defense of the state border in the de-occupied territories, and also familiarized them with the system of defensive positions and the places of border guard details’ service. Next, the representatives of the delegation visited the destroyed bridge over the Pripyat River, the Chornobyl NPP and the Pripyat settlement itself.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine emphasized the unequivocal support of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in the fight for independence and territorial integrity.

On this day, the foreign delegation also got acquainted with the work of the Gostomel Border Guard Unit. In particular, attendees watched footage of the beginning of the terrorist country's aggression in February 2022.
