Last year the operational staff of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service revealed an organized criminal group and eliminated the channel of people smuggling across the state border.

So, on July 7, 2019 law enforcement officers eliminated a criminal "business scheme". The criminals were caught red-handed. As noted, using a VAZ car, three Ukrainians transported four Sri Lankan citizens to the territory of Ukraine from the Russian Federation.

In particular, six episodes of unlawful activity of a criminal group were documented in criminal proceedings. Three criminals managed to transport 4 illegal migrants across the state border to the Russian Federation and 18 from Russia. For each of them, "businessmen" received $ 100.

As a result, the Troitsk District Court in Luhansk region sentenced two Ukrainian citizens to five years in prison. 33 and 26-year-old Ukrainians were found guilty of the crime under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code «Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine».

The third Ukrainian is wanted. As operatives have established, in order to avoid criminal liability, he is hiding on the territory of the Russian Federation.
