Two Ukrainian citizens who carried packages of cigarettes to Romania through the snow-capped highlands were detained by border guards from the Mukachevo border guard detachment of “Dilove” border guard division.

The 27-year-old smugglers with smuggled cigarettes were detained during a check on the basis of the information provided in advance by the operatives of the detachment, a few hundred meters away from the border.

Residents of the village of Dilove intended to smuggle 1,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps across the state border. The men had two radio stations with them, which the border guards confiscated together with cigarettes for further handing over to the relevant authorities.

The protocols were drawn up about the detainees and their offenses they had committed, and the case was sent to court, it would provide a legal assessment of the actions of Ukrainian citizens.
