3000 packs of smuggled cigarettes and two vehicles were confiscated yesterday at the checkpoint “Porubne” on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

Yesterday around 7.30 p.m. a Skoda microbus driven by a citizen of Romania arrived at the checkpoint. While border guards of Chernivtsi border guard detachment and customs officers were carrying out the thorough examination of the vehicle they found out 1230 packs of “Fest” and “MARBLE” cigarettes inside the bags with bran. The total value of the confiscated cigarettes is UAH 15000.

The same day another 39-year-old citizen of Romania tried to illegally transport cigarettes across the border. He had hidden 550 packs of cigarettes of various brands in hollow spaces in the doors and the rear wing of his Volkswagen car. The cigarettes were confiscated as well as the car, which was valued at UAH 45000.

The vehicle of the 40-year-old Bukovinian who was trying to illegally transport 1220 packs of “MARBLE” cigarettes to Romania was also confiscated. The tobacco goods were found inside the fuel tank of his PEUGEOT microbus during the joint thorough search. The total value of the confiscated goods and the vehicle is about UAH 100000.
