Two Mercedes minibuses packed with cigarettes were stopped by border guards at the Belarusian-Polish border.

In the first case, the Ukrainian national was returning from Belarus to Ukraine via the Dolsk border crossing point in a Mercedes minibus. Considering the risks regarding the possible illegal movement of goods, the border guards decided to carefully inspect his vehicle.

As a result of an advanced inspection, border guards of Lutsk BG detachment involving customs officers found 2,800 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps. The driver, a 39-year-old resident of Volyn, hid tobacco products in the cabin under the sleeping compartment. The State Customs Service representatives seized cigarettes along with a 2005 Mercedes minibus.

In the other Mercedes, which was driven by a citizen of Ukraine to Poland, border guards of Lviv BG detachment also found hidden tobacco products.

The vehicle was heading for the neighboring country through the Shehyni international automobile BCP. While being interviewed, the driver was noticeably nervous and could not clearly explain where he was heading for. Therefore, the decision was taken to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle, during which border guards together with customs officers found hidden cigarettes. Tobacco products were packed in the ceiling and under the vehicle's trim. In total, border guards took 1,710 packs of cigarettes of various brands out of hiding places.
