Two German citizens were detained in the Lviv region on suspicion of human trafficking

Law enforcement officials have stopped illegal activities to recruit and smuggle women into the EU in order to engage them in sexual exploitation.

The measures were carried out by operatives of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment together with employees of the Migration Police and Cyberpolice of the NP in the Lviv Region under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, as part of criminal proceedings.

As a result of the activities, a joint interdepartmental group detained two German citizens suspected of recruiting 5 Ukrainian citizens, residents of Lviv region, for prostitution. The foreigners planned to transport the women to one of the EU countries.

The person involved in the criminal proceedings and his accomplice were detained and suspected of committing a criminal offense. The perpetrators face up to five to twelve years in prison.

The organizer of the illegal activity was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention, with the right to bail in the amount of almost 300 thousand UAH. Urgent investigative actions are underway to establish the circumstances of the offense and the victims.
