Border guards of Lviv Border Guard Detachment prevented two attempts of drug smuggling across the Ukrainian-Polish border at Shehyni and Hrushiv Border Crossing Points.

Border guards found a white powdery substance under the driver's seat of a Peugeot at Shehyni Border Crossing Point. The controlled substance was detected during the examination of a vehicle driven by the Ukrainian citizen who was heading to Poland. The substance has been previously identified as amphetamine.

The other incident took place at Hrushiv Border Crossing Point. During the inspection of a shuttle bus, border guards found a 20-year-old Ukrainian female passenger who was carrying a bundle of greenish-gray herbal substance. The woman confirmed that the controlled substance she concealed in a pack of cigarettes was marijuana.

In both cases, drug sniffing dogs trained to detect narcotics helped border guards to find the “catch”.

The National Police has been informed to take up an investigation into these cases.
