Over the past day, border guards of the Chop Detachment together with Slovak colleagues detained 12 citizens of Ukraine of the call-up age who were trying to enter illegally neighboring Slovakia.

Five of them were stopped half a kilometer from the border near the village of Palad’ Komarivtsi in Uzhhorod district. Border guards noticed a suspicious car with foreign registration, in which there were five men. All of them were local residents and admitted that they intended to leave the car and cross the border on foot outside the BCPs.

Two more offenders were detected by border patrol of the Palad Komarivtsi section at night using technical surveillance equipment a few hundred meters from the state border. The men overcame the barrier fence and were sneaking to the border through bushes. They were detained in the neighboring territory in cooperation with Slovak colleagues.

Another "tourist", also a local resident, was detained at midnight in the same area by officers of the Chop Detachment. During his detention, law enforcement officers had to make a warning shot in the air.

A few hours later, border guards of the "Palad Komarivtsi" section in cooperation with Slovak border guards again stopped two offenders. One of them was detained a few dozen meters from the border, the other one – on the Slovak side.

Another two "travelers" were found by servicemen of the "Velykyi Bereznyi" division not far from the railway station near the border village of Zabrid. Two residents of Kharkiv were moving towards the border following the route saved in their mobile phones.

The offenders were taken to the border guard units to clarify the circumstances of the case and to bring them to administrative responsibility for attempting to cross the state border illegally. The cases will be referred to court.
