Yesterday, Turkish vessel fishing illegally was detected at the area of responsibility of Southern Regional Directorate. Border guards had the advance information on the vessel with fishing nettings for flounder and bare ice on board following towards exclusive (marine) economic zone of Ukraine. Therefore, patrol plane from Odesa air squadron was ordered to inspect the definite zones and to apprehend the possible offender. Full soon, border guards noticed “Zor” schooner, which entered the Ukrainian economic zone for poaching. After the fishermen has watched the border guard plane, they started removing their nettings and running away. Being accompanied by border guards they had left Ukrainian waters.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informed the Black Sea Cooperation Forum about that event.

Please be remembered that less than month ago, another Turkish fishing schooner was detected at the same area by border patrolling aircraft. That vessel pursued flounder fishing too.
