The border guards of Sumy border guard detachment in cooperation with the customs representatives detected 5.3 kilograms of narcotic substance several days ago.

 

The border guards of Sumy border guard detachment in cooperation with the customs representatives detected 5.3 kilograms of narcotic substance several days ago.

The substance of plant origin was found at “Khutir-Myhailivskyi” BCP during the check of “Kovel-Moscow” train. While checking, a detection dog detected by its behavior the compartment with a hiding place. A 19-year old Ukrainian carried polyethylene packages with plant substance together with macaroni foods, flakes and flour in one of the bags. The passenger explained to border guards he was asked to transmit the packages by some unknown persons. Herbs, most likely marijuana, were seized and transmitted to the State Security Service representatives. The appropriate expertise will determine whether it is really narcotic or not.

Total 168 kilograms of drugs, including 122 kilograms of marijuana, were seized on the border in 2012. It should be mentioned that the Ukrainian-Russian border sector is the second in number of attempts to move drugs through the state border.
