THE UKRAINIAN BORDER IS TO BE THE EU'S EXTERNAL BORDER

Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued an order amending the Strategy of Integrated Border Management until 2025.

“Taking into account the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, the key result of the Strategy is the readiness and ability to protect the EU's external borders within the state border of Ukraine, after gaining full membership in the EU,” - added in the section “goal of the Strategy”.

Also, by the decision of the Government, the Strategy is   added as task for planning measures to restore the protection of the Ukrainian-Russian section of the state border within the separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and ensuring readiness for protection of this Ukrainian border section. In addition, among the tasks of modernization of the border protection system was added the improvement of engineering and technical equipment of the state border through the adoption and implementation of relevant regulations.

The purpose of amending the Integrated Governance Strategy was the necessity to bring this document in accordance with the National Security Strategy of Ukraine. Proposals for changes were approved at the end of last year at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Coordination of Integrated Border Management with the participation of European experts.

It will be recalled that the Strategy of Integrated Border Management until 2025 is a document that provides for the coordinated development and implementation of the integrated border management subjects functions both at the state border and within the state. Its implementation should not only improve security at the border, but also speed up and facilitate control procedures, ensure the free legal movement of persons and goods with unconditional respect for human rights.
