The development of cooperation between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Denmark was the key topic of the meeting between the Head of the Border Guard Service Serhii Deineko and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen.

During the meeting, the SBGS Chairman noted that while guarding one of the largest state borders in Europe, Ukrainian border guards are also focused on defending the country. Serhii Deineko paid special attention to the fact that Ukraine's border security has been significantly affected by Russia's aggressive policy and actions for the last seven years.

At the same time, the SBGS is creating a fundamentally new "intelligent" technical system of state border protection. An action plan for its engineering and technical equipment is being implemented. The border guards are improving the surface lighting system, are actively working to increase the maritime and aviation component of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

An integral part of the development processes of the State Border Guard Service is international cooperation with foreign partners and international technical assistance. In particular, it was noted that the Kingdom of Denmark significantly supported the Ukrainian border guards in overcoming the global pandemic COVID-19, providing the agency with 10 ventilators, which are currently used in medical facilities of the agency.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation, in particular in the development of the Maritime Guard.

According to Serhii Deineko, the State Border Guard Service will make every effort to successfully implement joint projects and the agency is responsible for the possibility of participating in programs implemented for development.
