The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine stated this yesterday, October 29, during a visit to the French shipyard OSEA. Denys Monastyrskyi inspected the progress of boats construction, which is carried out under a contract between OSEA and the State Bo

“Next month, the first boat will be launched, factory tests of our vessel will be conducted. We are expecting it in Odessa in the spring”, said Denys Monastyrskyi.

The head of the law enforcement agency noted that these vessels are extremely necessary for the Marine Guard of the SBGS to ensure the interests of the state and society at sea in the Azov-Black Sea basin.

Denys Monastyrskyi stressed that an important condition of the contract is the fact that 5 out of 20 boats will be manufactured in Ukraine. In the future this will allow us to self-service ships and develop their own production.

In 3 years, Ukrainian border guards will receive 20 vessels for border protection, surveillance and counteraction to sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

It should be reminded that on July 22, 2020 in Mykolaiiv in the territory of shipbuilding and ship repair plant “Nibulon” the contract concerning implementation of the Ukrainian-French project of strengthening of system of sea safety and protection of border of Ukraine was signed.

It will also be recalled that under the terms of the framework intergovernmental agreement signed in Paris on November 19, 2019 by the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and France, a quarter of the order will be fulfilled by a domestic shipbuilding company using French technology.

The agreement was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on March 4, 2020. It provides lending by the French government and leading European banks for shipbuilding in the amount of 136.5 million euros.
