On March 9, 2021, the first constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Joint Commission on Border Traffic Control took place online.

On March 9, 2021, the first constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Joint Commission on Border Traffic Control took place online.

The Ukrainian side was headed by Yurii Lysiuk, Deputy Director of the Department - Head of the Border Control Organization Office, and the Hungarian side was headed by Dr. Matiash Hedalial, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary.

In addition to representatives of the State Border Guard Service Administration, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Customs Service, the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration.

During the online meeting, the parties discussed the situation at border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, including the issue of increasing capacity, ways to resolve queues at the border, modernization of existing and construction of new BCPs.

The parties informed about the planned measures to reconstruct the BCPs, first of all the Chop-Zakhon BCP, the state of completion of works on the Ukrainian side of the Luzhanka-Berehshuran BCP, as well as the need to overhaul the bridge over the Tysa River.

They also discussed the state of preparation of draft international agreements necessary for the creation and opening of the planned joint BCP “Velyka Palad – Nadhodosh”, issues related to the regulation of the organization of control at the joint BCP. Both Parties agreed to carefully analyze the draft agreements and hold the next meeting in the near future.
