The delegation of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) visited the Orlivka ferry border crossing point for the first time.

Head of the Advisory Mission of the European Union Antti Hartikainen, Deputy Head of the Operations Department of the Advisory Mission of the European Union Jesse Seppala and Senior Adviser on Border and Integrated Border Management Adrian Kostaki came to Orlivka for an introductory visit. The representatives of the EUAM mission got acquainted with the infrastructure of the unique BCP and the work of "Ferry Complex" LLC.

It should be noted that the other day, during the opening of the new Krasnoilsk - Vikovu de Sous border crossing point on the Ukrainian-Romanian border, the Heads of Government of Ukraine and Romania pointed out the significant contribution of the EUAM mission to the development of border infrastructure and assistance in the activation of border traffic.

Border support is one of the most important directions of the Mission's activities, - says the message on the EUAM website. "Since Ukraine is a candidate for joining the EU, this will lead to the need for an external assessment of its border infrastructure, customs procedures and much more else. The mission is ready to share its practical experience on how to increase the capacity of customs officials and border guards," the site quotes Yesse Seppala as saying.

As a reminder, the EUAM Advisory Mission is a civilian mission of the Common Security and Defense Policy of the European Union. The purpose of the Mission's activity is to promote the reform of the civil security sector of Ukraine. The Mission's experts provide strategic advice and practical support to make Ukraine's civil security sector more effective, efficient, transparent and trusted by citizens. The EUAM advisory mission cooperates with law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, including the State Border Service, and operates according to the principles of: provision of strategic consultations; provision of practical consultations, trainings and implementation of projects for Ukrainian partners; cooperation and coordination between Ukrainian and international partners.
