Operatives of the Podilsk borderguard detachment arrested a 51-year-old citizen of Ukraine and two accomplices who were trying to smuggle a person across the border illegally.

The organiser promised the person to take him "on his route" for $1,500. Later, he called and informed the time and the train by which the man was supposed to arrive in Kodym, Odesa region.

Upon arrival at the railway station, the conscript man was already waiting for one of the accomplices, who drove him to a settlement near the state border and handed him over to another one. Subsequently, the perpetrators drove towards Moldova in a camouflage car, where they were detained by the border guards.

Later, the law enforcement officers searched the place of residence of the organizer of the illegal activity, as a result of which the funds and the vehicle used to transport the man to the border were seized.

As a result, the ferryman and two accomplices were detained. Violators have been notified of suspicion for committing a criminal offense. Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.

The events were held jointly with the National Police, under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
