As a result of a series of measures, during this day, law enforcement officers detained ten illegal migrants from Iraq and a Turkish national who organized their trip.

As a result of a series of measures, during this day, law enforcement officers detained ten illegal migrants from Iraq and a Turkish national who organized their trip.

Thus, as part of the criminal proceedings, operatives of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment and servicemen of the Nyzhankovychi BG section detained five foreigners near the border with Poland - four men and a woman. The foreigners did not have identity documents with them, it was found that they were Iraqi citizens.  To clarify the circumstances of the offense and prosecute under Part 2 of Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the detainees were taken to the border unit.

Almost at the same time, in Lviv, in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal and Law Code, law enforcement officers detained the head of crime - a Turkish citizen. It was established that the 62-year-old foreigner received a monetary reward of USD 1,600 per person for his “services”.

In addition, as a result of urgent investigative actions, at one of the addresses of the city of Lviv, law enforcement officers found five more illegal migrants - Iraqi citizens. The man, woman and three children also did not have identity documents.  And these “voyagers” were also illegally transported across the state border to the EU by a Turkish citizen. The Turkish national rented two apartments in the center of Lviv for the temporary residence of migrants.

Illegal migrants will be handed over to the representatives of the State Migration Service in Lviv region in accordance with the procedure established by law.

The complex of all activities was carried out by a joint interdepartmental group of  Lviv Border Guard Detachment operatives, the HTD representatives  in Lviv oblast and the investigative department of the National Police in Lviv oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Measures are being taken to identify all those involved in the crime.
