In particular, as a result of the pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings initiated on the basis of the date, provided by the operative and search units of Chop Border Guard Detachment, the Investigative Department of Financial Investigations of the State Tax Service in Transcarpathian Region, under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Region Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Mukachevo was informed about the suspicion of committing criminal offenses under Article 204 of the Criminal Code “Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for sale of excisable goods” and Article 358 of the Criminal Code "Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of counterfeit documents, seals, stamps”.

It should be noted that at the end of September 2020 operatives of Chop Border Guard Detachment detected and stopped an attempt to smuggle almost 184,000 packs of cigarettes across the state border of Ukraine at Chop (Tysa) BCP. The amount of illegally manufactured tobacco products amounted to more than 7 million hryvnias. The person, suspected in the crime tried to take them to Hungary in a cargo minibus with false diplomatic number plates and using forged documents that would have given him diplomatic immunity.

During the operative investigation the circumstances of the criminal offense were properly documented, which resulted in the successful completion of the pre-trial investigation and sending the indictment against the suspect to court for consideration of a case on the merits.
