During October-November 2020, 500 persons were called up for military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Of these, 35 young men were selected for service in the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service.

Recruitment continued in 22 regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv.

The boys were admitted to departmental training centres, where before being assigned to border guards, recruits underwent initial training, which lasted from one to three months, depending on the profession.

Thus, the Main Centre for Personnel Training of the State Border Guard Service named after Major General Ihor Momot in Cherkasy region received 300 people, the Canine Training Center in Velyki Mosty in Lviv region met 165 people, and the Marine Guard Training Centre in Izmail in Odesa region - 35 people.

Conscripts studied border disciplines, best practices, improved their physical skills, and underwent fire and tactical training.

It will be recalled that conscripts who were fit for military service due to their state of health, citizens of Ukraine who had reached the age of 18 by the time of conscription, and senior citizens who had not reached the age of 27 and were not entitled to dismissal or deferment of conscription were subject to conscription.

Young people who have received a master's degree before being called up for service will serve up to 12 months, others - up to 18 months.

It should also be noted that conscripts are sent to various parts of the state border for further service, except for the Joint Forces Operations zone.

At the same time, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine continues to release conscripts who have served the established terms. Today, out of more than 1,800 border guards, more than 1,700 young people have already been released from the Armed Forces. The rest - almost a hundred - will return home by the end of the year.

It is worth noting that the guys have the opportunity to stay on a contract and continue their service in the State Border Guard Service. So far, almost 40 young men from among those discharged from military service have expressed a desire to sign a contract and continue to guard the state border of Ukraine.
