The head of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment Colonel Yurii Petriv acquainted the guests with the current security situation within the road corridor "Luhansk - Shchastia" and the infrastructure of the EECP.

In particular, during a visit to Ukraine, a delegation led by the Chairman of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation Andreas Abby arrived at the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint. The head of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment Colonel Yurii Petriv acquainted the parliamentarians with the functioning of the road corridor.

"Three checkpoints are opened daily in Luhansk region. However, due to the blockade by the occupiers, citizens can cross the demarcation line only in Stanytsia Luhanska. On average, up to 20,000 citizens pass through this checkpoint in both directions weekly,” said the head of the Border Guard Detachment. The delegates were also acquainted with the plan for the reconstruction of the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint, which has already begun.

After getting acquainted with the work of the checkpoint, Andreas Abby handed over 1.5 million antigen tests for COVID-19 to local authorities. They will be used to ensure functioning of the road corridor in the face of anti-epidemic measures.

A delegation headed by Baiba Blodniece, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Latvia, visited Shchastia EECPs.

In particular, he noted that the EECP in Shchastia was constructed in November 2020, but during its entire operation, pro-Russian militants haven’t allowed entry to a single person. At the same time, the infrastructure of the checkpoint allows you to comfortably and quickly cross the demarcation line. And the equipped modern service zone gives the chance to use services necessary for citizens.

It was also noted that the establishment of transport connections with the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region would greatly facilitate the lives of civilians. However, Russian militias are blocking all attempts to resume movement.
