Improving armaments and the level of combat training is one of the priorities in the State Border Guard Service. To carry out special assault measures in modern conditions, the special operations units of the border agency, as well as other special units of the service, are re-equipped according to modern EU standards.

As part of the planned training, the servicemen of the special operations unit of the Odessa Marine Guard Detachment are practicing a set of training exercises with a Glock pistol and an MP5 submachine gun. These are exercises for accuracy, the ability to fire after exercise, switching attention, fire in motion and others that allow you to practice skills in conditions as close as possible to real tasks.

Both types of weapons have the same caliber of ammunition, which is much more convenient for equipping an assault group, which lands on the intruder vessel. After all, these types of weapons have their own characteristics of use, and ammunition is common, so there is no need for additional equipment.

The MP5 submachine gun, created in the middle of the XX century, is the most popular model of this type of weapon. Its main advantages are excellent handling and accuracy, excellent ergonomics, reliability and thoughtful design. Since its inception, the MP5 has become the main choice of law enforcement and special forces, it is in service in more than 50 countries.

This type of weapon has a certain preventive nature. After all, an assault group or a force support group, landing on a ship to detain it or ensure the smooth operation of the search group, uses weapons as a last resort. Under such conditions, the border guard must first of all not destroy, but stop the offender. And in the conditions of the open sea and cramped ship's premises, other design features of various vessels, special advantages of MP5 are compactness, bigger accuracy of firing, low level of volume of a shot as it has the integrated muffler, smaller ricochet, bigger stopping action and rapid fire.

At the same time, Gaston Glock's pistols, which have been in service in more than 30 countries for more than 40 years, have the advantage of light weight and simplicity of design. The shape of the handle and the angle of its inclination provides high accuracy of holding the aiming line during rapid fire. The presence of specific lumbar strips ensures a tight grip of the weapon during shooting, even a fragile girl's palm holds it deftly. And in the conditions of assault and storm it is extremely important. The weapon is also well protected from corrosion, which is a definite “plus” for naval special forces.

But any weapon is accurate and serves effectively if it is used skillfully and confidently, if it is possessed thoughtfully and skillfully.
