In Zakarpattia, border guards thwarted an attempt by smugglers to smuggle a batch of cigarettes to Romania.

While patrolling, a border guard detail of the "Tyachiv" Border Guard Division Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment noticed a group of people moving towards the state border with packages on their shoulders. Seeing the approaching law enforcement officers, the offenders left their packages and ran away, ignoring the border guards' demands and even warning shots. They ran so fast that they lost their shoes.

While inspecting the area, the border guards found 12 boxes of cigarettes wrapped in plastic. The found packages contained 7 thousand packs without excise tax stamps.

The search for the fugitives involved in the offense is ongoing.
