As part of the joint special operation "West-2023", border guards of Chop border guard detachment, together with cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained two groups of people who tried to enter Slovakia illegally.

The first group of offenders was detected on the outskirts of Kamianytsia settlement of Uzhhorod district. The border team, which also included an operative of the detachment and cadets of the Lviv University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, noticed how two suspicious persons got out of the electric train and headed towards the state border. The men had passport documents of Ukrainian citizens with them and admitted that they intended to cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border illegally.

Another group was detained on the outskirts of the village of Onokivtsi, Uzhhorod district. During the verification measures, the border guards, together with the National Guardsmen and the cadet who arrived for reinforcement, stopped a car in which there were five people. The driver, a local resident with a disability, was transporting his minor son and three other male citizens of Ukraine in the car. As the law enforcement officers later found out, the men were to be taken to the Novoselytsia area, where they also hoped to cross the border with Slovakia illegally.

Another "tourist" was detained the day before, also near the settlement of Onokivtsi. The offender was stopped halfway to the border thanks to advance information from an operative. A border patrol was sent to the place indicated by him and detained a citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Luhansk Oblast, a kilometer from the state border. A cadet from one of the higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also took part in detaining the offender.

Offenders were taken to border units. After finding out all the circumstances of the offense, they were brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to cross the border illegally.
