Strategic site protection and defence exercises were held in the area of Zmiinyi Island.

Military personnel and equipment from the Naval Guard, the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service and the Naval Forces took part in the exercise.

According to the legend of the joint exercises, the activation of enemy sabotage forces was noticed in the area of Zmiinyi Island. In order to prevent the landing of enemy troops and the seizure of the island, the ship and boat staff of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service provided coverage of the surface situation, isolation of the area, and control over the safety of civilian navigation. Coordinated joint actions and tactical maneuvering blocked the approaches to the island; a special reserve was delivered by sea to strengthen the defense of the island unit.

Despite the stormy conditions, the objective of the exercise was achieved. In rather tense weather conditions, the ship and boat crew practiced firing at enemy craft and universal ship defense during the crossing of the sea.

The various forces and equipment involved in the exercise effectively countered the enemy and prevented landing of troops and the seizure of a strategic site.

During such training events, naval and maritime guard ship and boat personnel increase their level of combat training and improve their skills in operations according to NATO standards. After all, the knowledge and skills gained during international exercises are applied to interagency cooperation, ensuring readiness for effective cooperation within multinational forces, participation in joint operations and the like.
