Service Dog Detects Tobacco Products in Truck Fuel Tank

Border guards in cooperation with customs officials found 5,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes carried secretly by a foreigner to the EU countries at Krasnoilsk border crossing point.

The Volvo truck was driven by the 42-year-old citizen of Poland.

Having estimated the risks, the border guards decided to conduct thorough inspection of the vehicle. During the inspection, the joint search group found 5,000 packs of cigarettes hidden in a specially designed double-walled fuel tank. A specially trained service dog helped border guards to find tobacco products.

At this time, smuggled cigarettes as well as Volvo truck have been confiscated. The value of the excise goods and the vehicle is being estimated.
