The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine pointed that out while staying directly on the border with Belarus in front of Novi Yarylovychi border crossing point in the Chernihiv region.

He personally went to the place to see if the foreigners had really started to return in the opposite direction, who did not give up their intentions to enter Ukraine despite the restriction of entry.

"In the morning we began to record a gradual decrease in number of foreigners in this area. During the day their number was rapidly decreasing near our border. Also, there was a constant gradual return to the territory of the Republic of Belarus," said the Head of the border guard agency.

He noted that foreigners planning to enter Ukraine for the purpose of pilgrimage in this direction began to arrive at the border of Ukraine on September, 14. In total, more than 1,000 people were there until yesterday. Another group of foreigners was spotted on the border with Belarus in front of the Dolsk border crossing point in Volyn region, but after explanations about the restriction of entry, they returned a few hours later.

"We regularly proved to foreigners that the entrance to Ukraine is forbidden in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. And they knew this clearly before they started coming to us. Unfortunately, they did not listen to Ukraine's calls to refrain from traveling this year. We are sorry that having trusted the incomprehensible promises to which the pilgrims appealed in their conversations, they created the illusion of the possibility of entering Ukraine,” Serhii Deineko said.

The SBGS Head met with the heads of the National Police and the National Guard units, who were constantly together with the forces of the border guard agency on the border. He discussed the current situation and further coordination between law enforcement. Serhii Deineko also thanked the border guards, police and national guards for the proper implementation of the tasks on preventing provocations at the border, maintaining the border regime and the regime at the border crossing point.

At the moment, all foreign pilgrims left the territory near the border line of Ukraine.
