In the light of recent events in Luhask region (blockage of border guards units and BCPs, seizure of border patrols, assault on the personnel of BCP “Izvarynre”), border guard veteran’s community and partial local inhabitants initiated the formation of border self-defense squads. The primary mission of such units will be maintaining stability in border area, assistance to border guards while fulfilling the tasks of border protection and support in case of armed attack towards BCPs. Indeed everybody understands that attempts to impede the border guard’ duties will result in negative consequences, primarily for border area inhabitants.

Currently, the border checks at BCP “Izvaryne” are conducted only for crossing the border by foot, and the full traffic renewal is possible only after complete overcoming of the consequences of yesterday’s attack. The State Border Guard Service cannot allow such complications to have place and, therefore, will use every effort to provide safety of the state property, border inviolability and security of people crossing the border. Based on the above mentioned, civic initiative is timely and appropriate.

Now, activists are focused on organizing block-posts in front of BCPS to enforce border protection within Luhansk region. Such public associations are going to be organized in settlements of Krasna Talivka, Milove, Bilovodsk and Krasnodon (Luhansk region). We expect other regions will take up this initiative.

Please be remembered that the state border is unappropriated for separating political opponents. Primarily, it is an attribute of the state entirety and unity of its citizens.
