Safe and inclusive Ukrainian-Slovak border

During the week, border guards got acquainted with the principles of work of the Border Police of Slovakia

Within the framework of the international project "Safe and Inclusive Border between Slovakia and Ukraine", servicemen of the Chop Border Guard Detachment together with representatives of the State Customs Service of Ukraine paid a study visit to the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police of the Presidium of the Police Force, as well as to the Customs Directorate of the Slovak Republic. The project was implemented by the Ministry of the Interior of Slovakia, the Slovak Foreign Policy Association in partnership with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Uzhhorod National University and the main partner and organizer in Ukraine – the Center for Regional Risk Analysis.

The purpose of the training course was to exchange modern best practices of law enforcement officers of both countries, to improve the level of professional training of border guards, to study the norms and provisions of Schengen legislation.

During the week, border guards got acquainted with the basis and principles of work of the Slovak Border Police, the procedure for border control at the external borders of the EU, the procedure for working with foreigners and granting refugee status or temporary protection. Law enforcement officers of Ukraine and Slovakia exchanged experience in the use of the risk analysis and assessment system in their service and operational activities, the use of IT technologies and measures aimed at combating smuggling, illegal migration, and human trafficking.

During the visit, the border guards got acquainted with the work of the international airport "Bratislava", the procedure of border and customs control and border crossing operations in general.
