Workers of the port service of the Izmail Sea Trading Port spotted an overturned boat and a person in the water on the Danube River. They immediately reported the information to Izmail Border Guard Detachment.

Border guards immediately launched a boat to rescue a man. The border guards retrieved a 19-year-old Romanian man from the water who had been testing his boat after major engine repairs.

However, strong winds caused the boat to capsize, and the man found himself in cold water without a life jacket. He clung to the boat, which was being carried away by the current.

Fortunately, Ukrainian border guards noticed him in time and rescued him. Given the strong winds, the river's depth (which reaches 7 m in some places), and the low water temperature (about 13 ℃), the incident could have ended tragically for him.

The border guards also attempted to retrieve the boat, which was mostly submerged, but the danger prevented them from doing so.

The border guards handed the man over to their Romanian colleagues, who, along with the man, thanked the Ukrainians for saving his life.
